We understand the importance of being part of our local community, which is why H&P are involved in more than 40 local events and support more than 80 local charities and clubs.
At Hutcheon and Pearce (H&P), we take pride in our strong community connections and our active participation in local events. Our recent autumn involvement in the many shows, notably the largest in NSW being the Hawkesbury Show, the Orange STIHL Chainsaw Maintenance Night, and various golf events has showcased our continued commitment to supporting regional traditions and industries. Here’s a look back at some of these key events and what they mean for us.
→ The Hawkesbury Show
The annual Hawkesbury Show, held from April 19-21, 2024, is one of the largest regional agricultural shows in New South Wales. Our Penrith team maintain a very strong presence to support this vibrant event, which featured a range of activities from stunning fireworks to exhilarating rides, celebrating Australian cultural and rural traditions over three days.
Brent Beaumont, Branch Manager, Penrith, emphasised the significance of participating in the Hawkesbury Show, especially following our acquisition of the Penrith branch from LandHQ in December 2023. “Representing H&P in the Eastern region, particularly in Sydney, is crucial for us. The Hawkesbury Show provides an excellent platform to connect with our customers and showcase our offerings,” he said.
At the show, we displayed an impressive array of John Deere machinery, including 6 series tractors, gators, compact construction equipment (CCE), and more. Our merchandise, especially trucker caps, were extremely popular, reflecting strong customer engagement and brand loyalty. The event was a resounding success, with significant sales, particularly in the mowing and construction segments.
H&P were also very fortunate to be at the event supporting Brad De losa Losa, 3 time world wood chopping, and Aussie Timbersports Champion. Brad has the ability to make an incredibly tall order look like child’s play, taking honours for the weekend. We are very humbled to have Brad promote the H&P brand; it motivates us all to be the best at what we do!
→ Local Football & Netball
Winter Wouldn’t be complete without catching a local game of footy or netball. Across the state, H&P proudly sponsors numerous local netball and football clubs including Quirindi Rugby Union Club, Bowral Blacks Rugby Club, CSU Ag Netball, Narromine Rugby, Gunnedah Rugby League Club, Ganmain Grong Grong Matong Junior Football Netball Club.
→ Golf Sponsorship & Events
Golf has been another major focus for us, reflecting our broader community engagement strategy. We were the platinum partner with the ACTSTA and a major sponsor of the annual ambrose event in April 2024. This sponsorship is vital not only for our golf sector but also for representing the Queanbeyan and wider Eastern branches.
Among the various golf events, the John Deere | H&P & Pearce 2024 Ambrose Day at Wollongong Golf Club stood out. The NSW Golf Course Superintendents Association hosted a three-person ambrose on May 20th, which saw active participation and sponsorship from us. These events provided excellent opportunities for networking and reinforcing our commitment to supporting local sports and community activities.
→ School Steer Spectacular
A very wet week wasn’t enough to dampen the enthusiasm of around 300 students from south-east NSW as they converged on the Nowra Showground for the School Steer Spectacular! Executive Officer for the Spectacular, Rob Stafford said, “The two-day event aims to show students potential career pathways in agriculture – particularly the beef industry. We give them a project, run them through a bit of the science, and show them how that might lead to a potential career – not just in farming, but all the related professional and contracting services that can be pursued – from diesel mechanic, to media, to banking and finance, agronomy advisory. There are a whole range of careers, very satisfying pursuits, that agriculture offers.
“This just introduces students to what the industry does, and they might be able to see themselves in one of those roles. Big thanks to Calum from Nowra branch for his time chatting with teachers and students about exciting apprenticeship opportunities, and the wider team at H&P for their support and sponsorship. We can’t do this without you”.
And the Winners were:
Manildra Champion School: Shoalhaven High School scoring 223pts out of 250. Equal runners-up were Snowy Mountains Grammar and Braidwood Central School just one point behind!
Champion Led Steer: Boorowa Central School with a Murray Grey bred by Sue McCluskie formerly of Berry, now Cowra.
Champion Carcass: St Gregory’s College with a Limousin carcass scoring 96 pts. Runner-up was Bomaderry High School with a South Devon carcass bred by Lee Pippard at Tannoch South Devons.
These events and sponsorships, amongst many others, not only highlight our diverse range of products and services but also strengthen our relationships with customers and community members. As we continue to grow and expand, our focus on community involvement and support remains a cornerstone of our business strategy, ensuring we remain a trusted and valued part of the regions we serve.
