Green just got greener as John Deere’s new electric ride-on mower, the Z370R, redefines lawn care with zero emissions and cutting-edge performance that’s sure to impress.
The very first John Deere Electric Ride-on Mower is here, and we are thrilled to share this exciting innovation with you! The introduction of the Z370R is one of our highlights of 2024 and is sure to be a game changer in the mowing world.
Unveiled at the Henty Field Days in September, the excitement continued as the ‘Electric Roadshow’ toured various branches, giving customers an up-close look at this all-new mower.
As John Deere’s first electric ride-on mower, the Z370R sets a new standard for battery-operated mowers. It can mow up to 2 acres on a single charge, with zero operating emissions and reduced noise levels, all without compromising on cutting performance.
Battery
The Z370R Electric is powered by a 3.2 kWh (3.56 kWh maximum) sealed lithium-ion battery, offering up to 40% more capacity than standard electric mower batteries. The battery has an IP66 battery rating, meaning that it is dust and waterproof, which gives you the ability to mow in the rain if necessary and more importantly, the ability to wash down with a garden hose which is a standout feature
A fully charged battery enables you to mow up to 2 acres confidently. The unique Home Mode switches off the blades when the battery is down to zero, reserving enough power to return the mower to the charging outlet, ensuring you are never stranded.
Charging
The Z370R Electric features on-board charging so you can just plug in a standard extension cord after mowing and leave it to charge. The Smart Charge Technology will prevent the battery from being over charged, maintaining its lifespan. The mower is fully recharged and ready to use again within 6 hours.
Mower deck
The 42-in Accel Deep Deck is driven by dual electric motors and will mow up to 2 acres per charge with optimised blades giving excellent cut quality, resilience to damage, and long wear life. When compared to our petrol powered ZTrak Mowers, there is zero compromise in cut quality and performance. In fact, you will notice that the blades have more torque under heavy loads.
Operator display
A large LCD Operator Display screen allows you to monitor battery levels and choose from three operator modes, adjusting settings to fit specific preferences and conditions.
Intuitive controls
Designed for an intuitive driving experience, the mower is easily started by a power button. The Zero-Turn design provides unmatched manoeuvrability and allows you to navigate obstacles with ease. Integrated Park brake is activated when the control leavers are pushed outward providing ultimate safety.
Speed
Twin lever controls operate the speed of the Z370R Electric mower, offering a range of speeds from 0-11.3km/h for varying conditions. The combination of these speeds, mower decks and intuitive design features allows you to mow well, fast.
Maintenance
The new John Deere Z370R is virtually maintenance-free, with no fuels, oils, filters, or belts to worry about. After each mow, simply attach a hose to the wash port on the deck for a quick clean, then plug in a standard extension cord to charge. Annual maintenance is straightforward: ensure the deck is level, thoroughly clean under the deck, and sharpen or replace the blades. This saves you considerable time and money.

- How far can you mow on a full charge?
- John Deere confidently states that you can mow up to 2 acres on a full charge. Unlike other brands that add disclaimers, we’ve tested it ourselves and depending on conditions, have even surpassed this range.
- How long do you need to charge for?
- You can go from zero charge to fully charged in 6 hours.
- Are the electric motors driving the blades reliable.
- These motors are not new to this mower; they’ve been used in our golf equipment range and have proven reliability in commercial applications.
- Will the electric motor burn out.
- The motors are equipped with sensors that will detect overload conditions. If an overload is detected, the machine will shut down to prevent further damage.
- What is the lifespan of the battery?
- John Deere provides a 5 year/ 200-hour warranty on this machine. The battery is expected to last for the lifespan of the mower, which depends on the environment. These batteries are good for at least 500 recharge cycles. For a typical user mowing 30 times per year, the battery should last around 15 years.
- What is the pricing?
- The Z370R with the 42” deck option has an introductory price of $13,990. There is also a 48” model available also for $14,790. We are currently taking orders for both options with the first deliveries expected in April 2025.
