John Deere
has your seeding needs covered
Intrepid H&P staff headed to Western Australia in April to get the lowdown on an all-new complete seeding package – the P600 Precision Air Hoe Drill and C Series Air Cart.
When you need to get the most out of every hectare, John Deere has the seeding solution to exceed your expectations.
Aftermarket Sales Manager Dylan Curtis has been with H&P for 18 months, having worked in the industry both here and in Western Australia. He was part of the team to get their heads around the P600 Seeders and C Series Air Carts in Northam, Western Australia, in April, and he’s seriously impressed.
“John Deere ran two days of training and went full bottle on seeding. We covered everything from the tractor and air cart to the seeding bar and all things from a technology point of view. It was a really in-depth look at the whole seeding package.
“We got in-field training in tractor specs and how to set up ballasting, technology and how to match horsepower to the implement in each configuration of tractor. We then stepped through the C Series, looking at tank sizes and configurations and seeing all of the features and benefits over the competitor models. Next we looked at the specs of the P600 and how it works, including the agronomic benefits like seed placement, seed depth control, fertilizer placement and trash flow.
“The P600 features the new, updated version of the double knife opener, which is a game changer. It places the seed offset to the fertilizer on its own individual shelf, which gives the emerging crop access to a secondary amount of fertilizer to help with later growth. There’s a lot to love about it.”
For Dylan, one of the biggest benefits of the P600 is the expanded range of widths, from 40-to-90 foot to suit existing Controlled Traffic Systems allowing reduced compaction and fewer passes, which saves time.
“It’s more Controlled Traffic friendly now with widths to suit a range of operations, and with RelativeFlow™ blockage sensing , you can see in real-time the flow of seed and fertilizer into the machine to make sure there are no blockages. This system isn’t on that many machines and is a huge advantage in ensuring you’re not missing any areas and having to come back later to re-sow or having that yield loss.
“It’s about production ag, ultimately. Achieving more productivity from the seeding system. With the C650 Air Cart, you can fill all four tanks at 3523L/minute, as quickly as 20 minutes to help you get started quicker and finish earlier. You can calibrate the tank on the cart-side display without having to go back into your cab to input data. And ActiveCal™ makes it easy and automatic to deliver seed and fertiliser with confidence.
“The C850 Air Cart has a larger, 29,952L capacity, offering the best balance between cart, tractor, bar size and precision ag technology. It’s the ideal configuration of less weight, less power needed, reduced compaction and better emergence. It’s some pretty serious large-scale performance for small grain seeding.”
For growers trying to get that extra one percent out of their system, Dylan says the benefit of the full John Deere package – tractor, seeder and air cart – cannot be underestimated.
