It’s been a long time coming, but the Henty Machinery Field Days are back, and we can’t wait to get amongst it.
For almost 60 years, the Henty Machinery Field Days have been the go-to farming event in southern NSW, showcasing the latest in machinery and farm equipment, farm produce, agronomy and country lifestyle products and services.
And for 59 of those years, Hutcheon & Pearce has been there, catching up with our customer families, making new friends and celebrating all things agriculture. After a COVID-imposed two-year hiatus, we are ready and rearing to make the 2022 Henty Machinery Field Days – on September 20-22 – an event to remember.
Sales & Marketing Manager Andrew Watt said it’s been a long two years riding the planning and cancelling wave of the event.
At this stage there are four Hutcheon & Pearce team members dedicating their days to working through stock for the field days. As the event draws closer, this will become a project team of 20.
“With a lot of component delays and shipping delays, stock is hard to come by, especially to put aside for the field days coming up, which started with the Riverina Field Days in Griffith in May. But we’ve got a solid plan, which includes ordering more stock in mid-June.
“The larger project team, drawing mainly from Albury and Wagga dealerships, will then kick into gear and we’ll pull out all the stops to make it happen. They’ll make sure we’ve got all our merchandise secured, our marquees and customer-facing gondolas sorted, and they will do all the prep work that goes into an event this size. As usual, we’ll hire trucks to ferry stock down and back, and of course that’ll include a lot of John Deere toys for the showroom.
“Family favourite George the Farmer will be back and we’re even looking at options for a creche and space for kids’ ride-on toy races. We’re always changing things up and keeping the site fresh and it’s going to be great!”
Kitting out the 90m x 30m Hutcheon & Pearce site is no mean feat and takes some detailed planning, but one thing is certain and that is the two stars of the exhibit – the See & Spray™ Select and the X9 Harvester.
“On the large ag side of it, we’ll have the See & Spray which is the camera-based sprayer that’s able to reduce input costs by an average of 70% using integrated camera technology to detect weeds and automatically trigger a precise herbicide application.
“We’ll also have the X9 high-capacity harvester on display. Specifically designed for larger farms that need more harvesting capacity, the X9 harvests more hectares per day and more tonnes per hour, with minimal losses. With a more efficient engine, more torque and greater fuel efficiency, we can’t wait to show people through the X9 at the field days, and later at our demonstration days being held right across our territory in the lead up to harvest.”
Having been to Henty more times than he can remember, Andrew says he can’t wait to get back out there this September.
“I’m looking forward to it immensely. I’m most looking forward to seeing customers in that relaxed atmosphere that Henty always provides and we’re going to go all out this year to try and make sure that we’re continuing to give people the kind of excellent experience they’ve come to expect from Hutcheon & Pearce.”
First Time at AgQuip
As always, the Henty Machinery Field Days will follow hot on the heels of AgQuip in Gunnedah, running August 16-18. And following our recent acquisition of the Peel Valley Group, the H&P team is looking forward to putting in a cracker of a maiden run in the north of the state.
“There’s always been a friendly rivalry between Henty Field Days and AgQuip as to who has the biggest event on the east coast and we’re now lucky enough to be exhibiting at both.
“Henty has given us plenty of experience when it comes to running a good field Day and we’re excited to turn our hand to the northern event. We’re also very keen to continue the legacy of the Peel Valley Group who were integral back in the 70s and 80s when it first kicked off. They’ve been the largest exhibitors at AgQuip and we want to continue that.
“Naturally, a big part of our presence there will be about getting to know our new customers and reassuring them that they’ll continued to be well looked after and possibly even have a thing or two to look forward to as part of the H&P family. I personally can’t wait to get up the Gunnedah in August to bring the new staff members across the H&P field day spirit. And, of course, I can’t wait to meet the farming community up there and talk all things machinery and ag innovation.”
