Branch upgrades
for Tamworth
At Hutcheon & Pearce, we take pride in our workplace but more than that, we like to keep our facilities up to scratch so we can keep on providing the best support to our customers. Tamworth Branch Manager Glenn Starrit runs us through the recent upgrades up north.
Ever since we moved into Tamworth following the Peel Valley acquisition in 2022, we’ve had big plans for the branch. And as part of that, we’ve been getting busy on a spruce up of the facilities, with work kicking off in March and drawing to a close as we put the finishing touches to this edition of High Performance.
Tamworth Branch Manager Glenn Starrit is stoked with the changes he’s seen develop in the past few months.
“With Hutcheon & Pearce taking on the Tamworth dealership, it was always in their plan to use all the buildings we have. One of the big focuses was utilising the Gunnedah Road frontage – what was once an old car dealership showroom which was never used by the previous owners.
“To bring it into the H&P fold, we’ve painted and given it a refurb throughout, using local tradespeople. This includes installing new entrances, updating the electrical system and lighting, and relocating our Parts department and warehouse into the top building.
“Our Service department now works out of what we now refer to as the bottom building and our Parts and Sales departments will work out of the top building. We’ve now got machines and products inside and outside the showroom. We’re really trying to promote the full John Deere shopping experience so, long-term, when you come into the showroom, we’ll have everything John Deere you can poke a stick at. You name it, we’ll have it. And in the not too distant future, we will offer compact construction equipment as well.”
But for now, the upgrades mean that when our Tamworth customers come into the new showroomand look for what they’re after in airconditioned comfort – from toys right through to mowers and gators and large ag machinery. We also have a heap of new gondolas stacked floor to ceiling with parts.
“Whether you own a farm or you’re just looking for some merchandise, we’ve got you covered. And our staff love it. The building itself is nearly 30 years old but with the refurbishment, it feels like new. It’s light and airy and is a really nice place to work. I know Arron [Hutcheon] sees the potential in Tamworth and is keen to make an ongoing investment in the future of the city and our branch. The staff see that investment and they can see this is a great company to be a part of.”
While Glenn and the team have been working on the facility upgrade since early this year, their focus is now on streamlining operations in the newly fitted out buildings to provide the best possible service to customers across the northwest.
“Agriculture is constantly evolving and technology in machinery is more advanced than ever. That’s a big focus for Hutcheon & Pearce, and the electrification and automisation of machines over the coming years will be a big market. We’re all very interested to see how it rolls out, and we’ll have those options available for the customers who are keen to try them in their businesses.
“Staying across new technology is huge for us and training our staff is imperative. We’ll always have staff right across the machinery and the tech to talk customers through their options and get the best equipment for the job at hand – and with our branch upgrade, we’ve got the facilities to match whatever comes our way!”
